A woman who is in a relationship with a Boeing 737 has revealed she'll be unlikely to meet up with her aircraft lover this year.

Michele Köbke, from Berlin, is in a long-term committed relationship with the plane, which she lovingly refers to as Schatz.

Posting on Instagram, Michele shared a snap of herself cuddling into the plane and wrote: "I will probably not see my sweetheart once this year, thanks to coronavirus.

"Long-distance relationships are difficult anyway and now there are even more obstacles in the way.

"Will not give up - as soon as the time is up, a lot will be made up for."

Speaking previously about her unusual partner, she said: "The 737-800 is very attractive and sexy to me. He's the most beautifully built, and he's a very attractive and elegant aircraft."

It was all the way back in March 2013 when Michele first realised she was interested in planes, and after boarding a 737-800 she knew that model was 'the one'.

Describing the first time she stepped on to the plane, she said: "I got so excited with boarding the plane, I realised I am in love with the 737-800.

"The first time we really met was 1 May 2019. I enjoyed every millisecond with him.

"My cheeks hurt from smiling, I'm the happiest woman in the world - when I'm with him I have everything I need."

Although the two are currently being kept apart because of Covid regulations, Michele is fairly used to having to spend time apart from her planefriend.

She said: "A relationship with a plane is not easy and at times difficult.

"I can only get close to him when I fly with him or when I can get to him in the hangar, which has only happened once in my life."

And in the meantime, she's got herself a model of Schatz to keep her company.

"I have a big model of him made of fibre glass as well as real components from him so I can act out my love to some degree," she explained.

Having a sexual or romantic attraction to inanimate objects, like Michele, is known as objectophilia.

However, Michele reckons her relationship isn't too dissimilar to one between human lovers.

She said: "It's like a normal relationship, we have relaxing evenings together and when we go to bed, we cuddle and fall asleep together."
