A UK woman says she's regularly stopped in the street by people who think she's Lady Gaga.

Twenty-five-year-old Katie Hilliard, from Essex, says she was just 15 when someone first told her she looked like the Oscar winner, and that as the years have gone by more and more people have pointed out their similarities.

Katie, who works as a furniture salesperson, says she'd one day like to make a career out of her likeness to Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta.

Despite not officially working as a lookalike just yet, she has danced at parties and events as the singer, but for the time being says she's not had the bottle to sing any of Gaga's songs outside of her own home.

Although not quite at the stratospheric numbers Gaga can claim, Katie has also managed to amass her own impressive fan-base, with thousands of followers on social media - most of whom are fans of Lady Gaga.

"I get a lot of attention from her fan base and I speak to them frequently," Katie explained.

"I do get stopped in the street quite a lot. Especially when her fan base know that Lady Gaga is in London.

"I have over 3,000 Facebook friends and I'd say more than two thirds of them are Lady Gaga fans.

"Sometimes people think that I am Lady Gaga pretending to be a girl called Katie to get a sense of normality again and to avoid 'the fame'."

Lucky Katie even got the chance to - very briefly - meet her doppelganger/idol in London recently.

When Gaga was over for the A Star Is Born premier, Katie made sure she also attended and got to meet the superstar, who she says looked 'fairly confused' when she clapped eyes on her.

Katie added: "We didn't have much chance to speak but she looked at me fairly confused and smiled and I told her I loved her and she told me she loved me too.

"She was so elegant and polite and has an amazing aura. I was lost for words and wish I had more time to speak to her. It left me speechless."

But it's not all fun and games, Katie says she's encountered the odd troll online, with some accusing her of being 'fake', something which Katie denies, insisting that the only changes she made to look more like the singer is a long blond wig.
