If you weren't exactly great at maths back in the day, you might still struggle now when it comes to things like percentages for example. Well now all that's changed, here's an example:

Tanya Zakowich, a maths tutor living in Singapore, put together the video and it's blowing people's minds.

Essentially, Tanya shows people how to work out different percentages in a way you may never have thought of before. Using the example of 16 percent of 50, she reverses the numbers saying that it's the same as 50 percent of 16 which is 8.

This works for everything - 60 percent of 20 is 12, as is 20 percent of 60.

In the 24 second clip, which Tanya posted on to TikTok, she said: "99 percent of people do not know this maths secret. It can be used in every situation.

"So after this video, you can use it for the rest of your life. Let's check it out. What if I asked you to find 16 percent of 50? Well, you'd most likely need a calculator. But what if I told you that percentages can be reversed?

"So 16 percent of 50 is equal to 50 percent of 16. Half of 16 is eight so 16 percent of 50 is eight. Mind blown."

After posted the video, it has been watched over 16 million times with over 28,000 comments and 160,000 shares.

One person replied: "Where are you when I'm struggling with my maths?"

Another agreed, adding: "Where was this at in 4th grade?"

A third wrote: "These maths tips or secrets never come with explanations of why it works."

Another sarcastically commented: "Let me do the teaching. Step one: take a calculator or use the one on your device. Step two: type your problem. Step three: press '='."

If your head isn't hurting at this stage, prepare yourself because back in February an impossible maths question surfaced which was baffling people across the globe.

Weibo

Photos of the tricky question surfaced on Chinese social media - along with images of the students' attempts to answer it.

According to the BBC, the question read: "If a ship had 26 sheep and 10 goats onboard, how old is the ship's captain?"

One student wrote: "The captain is at least 18 because he has to be an adult to drive the ship."

Another said: "The captain is 36, because 26+10 is 36 and the captain wanted them to add up to his age."

Who knows?
