As July creeps around the corner, there are days when you'd almost start to believe it's summer in the UK. Which means the season of hanging clothes to dry outside is going to take hold. And let's face it - there's nothing quite like the fresh scent of clothes that have been dried in the fresh air.

But what if it's winter where you are? Those folks in the Southern Hemisphere are just starting their winter as we begin our summer, and even though their winters are warmer than ours, the conditions are still not necessarily conducive to hanging clothes out to dry.

Never fear! One Aussie mother and wife has come up with the perfect solution for drying her husband's underwear quickly and efficiently in the current climate over there - she uses her oven.

Yes, you did read that correctly. Melina Brown, who is from Victoria, shared her unusual tip on the popular Facebook page Mums Who Clean, along with pictorial evidence of her methods.

Alongside a photo of her husband's pants and socks hanging on the outside of the oven, she wrote: "Making sure my husband starts the week off right, with his favourite pair of jocks and socks!

"He might smell like Sunday roast but I wanted to utilise the heat that we're lacking in Victoria."

While a number of people praised her ingenuity, others were quick - and probably correct - to point out that there could be some potential risks to her methods as well, especially if the drying garments were left unsupervised for an extended period of time.

One person didn't like the fact that the gas hob above the drying undies was on at the same time. "That exposed gas flame is making me nervous," she wrote, while another warned: "Be aware of fire though."

Another member of the group explained how her mother used to do the same thing - until it went wrong.

"Haha this reminds me of my mum." she wrote. "To this day she still gets teased about the 'dessert' she made. She use to put dads undies and socks in the oven to dry on low and one time it burned holes in them."

So while we're not endorsing this method of drying underwear, when summer's gone and you need a pair of pants to be dried quickly, this could be one to remember.
