What do you get when you combine a shipping container, a pastry chef and an architect? An absolutely stunning Airbnb with a slick modern design buried in the heart of the Wild Atlantic Coast, that's what!

We've recently come across this absolute gem, a luxury-converted shipping container built on its own man-made lake overlooking Traighenna Bay in West Donegal. The unconventional home is the workmanship of couple Greg and Lukasz, the aforementioned architect (come conservationist) and pastry chef, who believe that 'great design is good for the soul'. The couple's belief in good design could not be more evident than in this beautiful renovation of what was once just a metal box.

The shipping container has been completely revamped to include a double bed with a plush mattress to sink into, a shower and toilet, and a fully fitted kitchen with everything you need to cook up a storm including a fan oven, Induction hob, fridge freezer, microwave and toaster.

A spacious wooden decking area surrounds the perimeter of the container, ideal for sunbathing, reading or drying off after a surf or a swim at the beach in Dooey which is only five minutes away. There's even a hammock for ultimate relaxation!

Whilst the interiors are extremely impressive, as you can imagine, with an Airbnb like this it's all about the breath-taking coastal views. There far end of the container has been fitted with a love seat couch for you to sit and enjoy a moment of peace and quiet so that you can simply take in the exquisite landscapes which surround you.

And, don't worry, if you get somehow get bored of the views there's also perfect 4G and a 32" Netflix Smart TV included too!

The reviews for this place are unanimous - people are obsessed. One review referred it as 'the most eco-friendly Airbnb I have ever stayed in' and another user named Leona made note to say thanks for the fresh eggs Greg and Lukasz left out for them as an added touch, which we gather came from their very own chickens!

A minimum stay of two nights in this luxury shipping container will cost you €385, not bad for what we're sure would be an unforgettable break. But be nimble as this place is already booked up months in advance.

You make a reservation here. In the meantime, you can explore the space further thanks to Irish TikToker Shane Finn who highlighted the Airbnb below.
