A dad says that he looks so much like Ricky Gervais that people even shout at him on the streets of Kent, where he lives.

Yes, Matthew Walker lives in Tunbridge Wells, but in the minds of others who live there, he's superstar comedian and actor Ricky Gervais, the star of shows such as After Life and The Office.

Of course - as Ricky would probably tell him - it ain't always so easy being David Brent.

The 49-year-old says he's always getting snapped in the streets, and people even cast the odd heckle his way, much to the amusement of his fiancée Annette Chatfield.

However, his uncanny resemblance has propelled his likeness quite far, even receiving a like from the man himself on a recent viral photo.

Matthew says that the comparisons started years ago, just after the release of The Office.

He explained: : "People always point at me and call me Ricky in a jokey way.

"It's been going on for years.

"I went on holiday and a Greek waiter said I reminded him of a comedian, so I immediately knew who he meant and for the rest of the three weeks he called me Ricky and had a laugh to himself.

"I'm a photographer so people will say 'look, they've got David Brent taking the photos' or they'll start saying I remind them of someone and I immediately know what they're going to say.

"I don't see it myself, but Annette thinks it's great."

"I haven't had anyone come over who doesn't like him and had a go at me. I've always had positive and funny reactions so there are worse people to look like.

"Although, he is a bit older than me which is unfortunate.

"Annette thinks it's funny when I come home and tell her someone on the tills at Sainsbury's just said 'you know who you really remind me of?'

He even says that his sense of humour is similar to the acerbic wit of Gervais, although he doesn't share his animal activist traits.

Matthew added: "I don't really have strongly held views on animal rights, obviously that doesn't mean I'm out hunting foxes at the weekend.

"I'm not really very vocal with my opinions.

"People who think I look like him tend to be people who don't know me that see me for the first time and say how much I look like him when I'm just doing everyday routines like in the pub or at the supermarket."

However, he takes it all in stride.

Matthew concluded: "It doesn't bother me because I think that you can't take yourself too seriously and I can't change my face.

"I think Ricky is great, I really like The Office and Extras and he's a good comedian."
