Dating is one tricky minefield to master. I mean, even when you've managed to land a date with someone, you've then got to navigate the art of conversation - and while we may not necessarily know what might work for that special someone, this man has provided the perfect example of exactly what NOT to say:

However, there's one bloke seems to be doing something right, claiming he's got an 80 percent success rate on Tinder thanks to a pretty ingenious tactic.

Tim Lewis, who runs a commercial Christmas lighting company that installs town and city decorations (I know, what a job!), uses his first name as a chat-up line - rebranding the popular dating app as TIMder.

Tim told LADbible: "It's easy to match on Tinder... It's starting that conversation which is the hard part.

"After trying and failing with the standard 'hi', 'hey there' and every other boring opener... it just hit me: TIMDER!"

And by the looks of things, it works.

Some of his matches have even played along, upping the banter by asking: "Please tell me TIMder is an upgraded version?"

It definitely beats the standard openers that we all get, asking how someone's day has been (yawn), whipping out a corny chat-up line (does that ever work?) or, worse, whipping out a dick pic (ugh).

Tim explained that it's now his go-to line, and that he's had a lot of success with it.

He said: "I always open with it and it gets a reply 80 percent of the time!

"If they love it, they reply. If they hate it, they reply. Either way it breaks the ice and gets the conversation started.

"It was borderline cringe and brilliance at the same time! So I gave it a go and the rest is history!"

Tim's even created some fitting artwork for his dating alter-ego.

Having been single for about a year, Tim decided to join Tinder around six months ago.

He added: "As far as getting dates from the line... let's just say its a winner.

"I'm enjoying being single at the moment but I'd happily hang up my snakeskin boots if the right match came along!"

We suggest if your name is Tim (or Jim, Lynn, Finn, Bryn, etc.) you try it out on your next successful swipe. An 80 percent success rate doesn't sound bad to me.
