Dad Fits Rabbit Water Bottle To Son's Bed As He Won't Stop Playing Video Games

"It was more of a joke - but now I think it’s the best £2.50 I ever spent!"

A dad who was getting fed up of his son's repeated demands to bring him drinks while he sat playing on his PlayStation has decided to get his own back - by attaching a rabbit water bottle to his bed frame.

Genius.

Kristian Wilkes, 33, says he was sick of having to run up and down stairs with drinks for his eight-year-old son Logan while the youngster was playing computer games with his mates, so bought the £2.50 water bottle as a joke - but what started as a prank has become a pretty sound idea.

Kristian, from Ebbw Vale, Wales said: "It was more of a joke - but now I think it's the best £2.50 I ever spent!

"I was fed up of him shouting down for a drink.

"When he's online gaming, he of course can't leave his bedroom.

"He only plays on it for a few hours a night, but when he is, he's constantly banging or shouting down for a drink.

"Then when he has one, he spills them.

"I joked that I'd get him a hamster bottle, so he didn't need to bother me.

"Then when we were out the other day I found a large one - probably for a rabbit.

"He came in and I'd stuck it to the side of his bunk-bed, so when he lies down in bed he only needs to turn his head for a drink.

"He didn't even notice, and he lay there for 20 minutes.

"Then he shouted down, 'Dad, why have I got a gerbil bottle on the side of my bed?'"

Although intended as a prank, eight-year-old Logan has used the water bottle.

Kristian says that Logan even got some use out of it that night, so it's proving to be practical too.

"He used it that night as well," the dad added. "It was great. I didn't have to be up and down the stairs getting him drinks.

"I did it as a joke - I don't want people to think I'm a pushover or anything. I just did it for a laugh to poke fun at him. But a lot people have been saying what a great idea it was.

"I've said to his mother I'm going to get him one of those hats with the straws wrapped round them. It's a good idea and he doesn't have to leave his game.

"I've got a four-year-old daughter too and she's really demanding, so it's a bit of a nightmare when I'm trying to sort her out and he's shouting for a drink.

"I've had to ban him from taking cups up there because obviously I'll find them under his bed and all over the place."

Now, the dad reckons he might even invest in one for himself to help him cope with the morning after a night on the booze. Seems you're on to something, Kristian.

He said: "Logan's friends have seen the funny side and he's enjoying the attention now. Even some of their parents have commented what a great idea it is.

"I've not had any negative comments - everyone I've spoken to seems to be giving the idea a thought.

"It's a great idea for hangovers too - I might fit one next to my bed as well."

Unlimited dad points.
