The Yorkshire pudding has a very special place in the hearts of many people across the UK. It's simple combination of eggs, flour and milk or water creates a sumptuous and crispy addition to any roast.

There are many ways to amend or alter the British favourite, however, this latest modification is causing both outrage and amazement.

Aldi is making waves with a Yorkshire pudding burrito, which is 'packed full' of beef brisket, topped with a 'rich, red wine and onion gravy'.

It will be rolled out across Britain in time for winter and will be available at just £7.99 ($10.6). According to the discount retailer it serves five people, but you can imagine there would be plenty who could finish it off themselves.

Aldi's decision to launch the product come hot on the heels of The York Roast Co shop selling a Yorkshire pudding wrap - which, if we're honest, looks bloody delicious.

The Yorkshire Burrito company is another brand leading the revolution and has the following to say about the matter on its website: "Our philosophy is simple: to celebrate the Sunday roast and all the trimmings in a way that can be enjoyed anywhere, not just at home or down the pub.

"Featuring heavily in this celebration will always be the humble Yorkshire pudding, infinitely better than sliced bread and invented way before. We eat, sleep and breathe the roast, cut us and we bleed gravy (although unfortunately it's too thick to use in our cooking)."

It's not just beef either; Yorkshire pudding fans can go for chicken, pork or even a veggie option made up of roasted cauliflower cheese, stuffing and roasties.

But opinion on social media is divided on whether they're any good.

But if burritos aren't your thing then maybe you're more inclined towards a Yorkshire pudding pizza?

The 1,500 calorie meal features a Yorkshire with a sausage base and lashings of cheese and tomato on top. Talking about his beautiful creation, the owner said: "I was working with co-owners Jason Rowe and Lucas Billingham to create a nostalgic menu when we came up with this.

"We were thinking of the Chicago town pizza - because we all ate these as a kid, more often than not in frozen form, when we decided to pair it with the Yorkshire pud.

"Of course, it was the natural progression as we're all from Yorkshire."

The Yorkshire pud is pre-cooked and then the topping goes into the oven upside-down so it remains crisp and tasty.
