Fans have paid tribute to darts legend Eric Bristow by sharing a clip from his stint on I'm A Celebrity.

The five time world darts champ died yesterday aged 60 following a heart attack.

Eric, known as the Crafty Cockney, entered the Australian jungle in 2012 for the ITV show, where he finished in fourth place.

Now fans have been paying tribute by remembering presenter Ant McPartlin's impression of Eric from the show.

Eric entertained viewers with his fearless attitude towards trials and unexpected friendship with celeb chef Rosemary Shrager.

Ant, who hit headlines recently after he was charged with drink driving, recreated the moment Eric read out details of a Bushtucker trial to campmates.

Co-presenter Dec revealed that some viewers had been in touch claiming they couldn't understand the impression of the east Londoner.

Dec, who's wife is expecting their first baby, said: "To help those viewers out, we've decided to subtitle Ant's impression of Eric."

The subtitles proved hilariously unhelpful as they showed jumbled letters across the bottom of the screen.

From then on the impression became a running joke which featured in the show.

Eric didn't win the popular show but he did delight viewers with his bravery in the trials and comical comments to his fellow camp mates.

The five time British Darts Organisation world champion had been at a promotional event in Liverpool yesterday afternoon and died shortly afterwards.

Sky News reported that fans at the Echo Arena in Liverpool burst into a rendition of 'There's only one Eric Bristow' after being told he had died.

As well as winning the BDO titles, he also won five world masters titles.

His agent told The Daily Mirror: "It's devastating news for the whole family. This has come as a massive shock and we would appreciate some privacy at this time.

"This is a huge loss to the sporting world and the world of darts. He is a legendary character."

Former boxing champion, David Haye, who met Bristow in the celebrity jungle took to Twitter, saying: "So sad to hear darts legend & great guy, Eric Bristow passed away. I was fortunate to spend 3 weeks as his campmate living in the jungle, even on the toughest of days his dry sense of humour & quick wit truly made the trip memorable. A real gent, he'll be missed by many. RIP "

And professional snooker player, Ronnie O'Sullivan, wrote: "Just heard the awful news about Eric Bristow. A good mate and darts legend! My thoughts are with his family at this sad time."

Fellow darts player, Simon Whitlock, posted: "Shocked and saddened to hear the news about a true legend of the sport I love. RIP Eric Bristow. Thanks for everything you did for darts. Thoughts are with Eric's family and friends."

Such sad news, RIP Eric.
