DIY can be annoying. Sometimes processes can be so fiddly that it soon becomes easier to strip everything back to the bare brick... like this bloke did when his partner left him to remove the wallpaper on the stairs. Watch below:

TikTok couple @walton_reno - a man and woman, who have not shared their names - have been sharing the experience of renovating their first property with their followers.

In one clip, the woman explains how she had left her partner alone in the house, and later returned expecting to find wallpaper-less walls... but instead she got exposed brick and a whole load of mess.

Captioning the clip, she wrote: "Left him alone with the wallpaper scraping for five hours..."

She then posted a series of pictures showing what the house looked like when she returned - basically, a pile of debris at the bottom of the stairs.

Awkward...

She then wrote: "Imagine my face when I came back to this..."

But not everyone saw it as a DIY disaster, with some actually explaining that it might be for the greater good.

Commenting on the clip, one person wrote: "The brick will be a nice feature. Won't have to be replaced every 2 years like wallpaper. Great job and saved a fortune on paper."

Another was less convinced, however, writing: "Not insulated with a massive heat sink to the house. Say hello to a massive heating bill during winter."

Backing up the bloke removing the wallpaper, a third person said: "The wallpaper is no longer on the wall, I'd say job well done."

Got a point.

Another told her to get it re-plastered and said it's going to look 'great', to which another TikToker pointed out: "What if she leaves him to re-plaster and comes back to it freshly painted/wallpapered."

One can only hope.

"In old houses, the wallpaper is the only thing holding up the plaster," said one user, adding: "But even that looks like he got a bit carried away."

The original poster then replied saying: "Wallpaper was holding ceilings as well... well, not anymore." Uh-ohhh.

She also explained how the handyman was 'very pleased with himself' and the work he did to their 100-year-old home.

Others were impressed with his speed, with someone even offering him a job: "If he can do that in five hours with a wallpaper scraper, I'll employ him!"
