Farmer Uses Human Bra On His Cow So Calf Can Suckle

Farmer Uses Human Bra On His Cow So Calf Can Suckle

Here's an ingenious way of using a bra you've likely never thought of - but if you're a dairy farmer it might just come in handy sometime.

Technically, it's what they were made for, but whoever invented the bra - and that's a subject for debate to this day - surely never thought a dairy farmer would one day use his wife's on one of his cows. Like this:

But that's exactly what one ingenious farm in the UK did when a calf, for whatever reason, wouldn't suck its mother's back teats.

To combat the problem, the farmer devised an incredibly clever contraption using his wife's underwear and a bit of rope and bungy cord to cover the front teats, giving the calf no option as to where to get its milk from.

It seems ridiculous - no, it definitely is ridiculous - but it worked a charm, as can be seen below:

The picture was taken by the farmer's neighbour and - of course - resulted in a host of amusing responses on Twitter:

While it's highly unlikely this technique will become common farming practice, the fact it's gone viral on Twitter may well help other farmers if they happen to encounter the same problem.

Speaking of farming and cattle - and that's a line we never, ever thought we'd write - the Guardian reports that, thanks to human activity, cows could be left as the biggest land mammal on Earth in a few centuries.

A study examining the extinction of large mammals in relation to humans spreading out across the globe looked at trends over the last 125,000 years and discovered, thanks to humans targeting bigger species for meat.

One upside is that there is also an opposing train of thought which suggests that, because of conservation efforts to stave off threats to wildlife such as climate change, loss of forest habitats, pollution and expanding cities, the shrinking of large mammals may actually be halted. Let's hope so.
