Guy Accidentally Rinses Mum On Reply-All Email To His Entire University

Students and staff had been warned that there had been cougars spotted in the area

You know that feeling when you hit 'send' on an email and IMMEDIATELY think you've screwed up - whether it's accidentally copying someone in that shouldn't be there, attaching the wrong file or forgetting to re-format the text to pretend that you didn't just copy and paste everything.

Worse still, is that 'reply all' function, which is dangerous territory - especially when it involves replying to your entire university, as one student did.

Oh, and he was absolutely slating his mum, too.

Caleb Diaz is a 23-year-old senior at Southern Oregon University, who - along with his fellow 'students, faculty and staff' - was emailed with a warning about cougars in the area.

"We live and work in a beautiful valley; and if you haven't already heard, please be aware cougars have been seen recently in and around Ashland," they were told by their Vice President for Finance and Administration.

Along with a link to more information about how to stay safe around cougars, people were advised to call 911 if they see a cougar.

Sounds like a pretty scary situation to be alerted to, though we're glad to say that Diaz managed to find the amusing side of the situation.

"That's just my mom," he wrote. To everyone.

Diaz had seen the opportunity and took it, not thinking that it would actually send to the whole school.

"Friday evening, we got the alert about the cougar and my roommate and I kind of looked at each other and were like, 'That seems like an older woman, not an animal'," Diaz told BuzzFeed.

"I didn't think that I sent it to the whole school."

Diaz had figured that the school would have 'some block that would not allow students to send an email out to the whole school'. Nope.

"I thought you had to have certain administrative credentials or something like that," he added.

"I guess you can send an email out to all the students."

Diaz said that, at first, there was no response - he didn't receive any email, and neither did his friends. However, the following morning, he found out that it had sent.

"I was like, 'Oh my gosh, oh no.' I had like, a panic attack," he said.

"I ran out, grabbed my laptop, and googled 'How to delete email from Gmail that you've sent.'"

But it was too late, and fellow students - including 20-year-old junior Lauren Devine - had already started sharing it on social media.

"When I saw the email, I honestly couldn't stop laughing," Devine told BuzzFeed.

But before anyone else tries to pull a similar stunt, the university told BuzzFeed that messages like Diaz's hilarious reply are usually blocked.

"All-student emails on our campus are moderated," Joe Mosley, a spokesperson for Southern Oregon University sad.

"This student's response normally would have been blocked, but in this case it slipped through - and we're happy so many people got a good laugh out of it."

He added: "My only response is that a good sense of humor is valued at SOU and we appreciate a funny joke as much as anyone.

"Hopefully this student's mother will have the same attitude," he added.
