A bartender has revealed a subtle but potentially live-saving way you can ask a member of staff for help if you're in a position where you feel like you could be in danger. Watch him explain below:

TikTok user Benji Spears (@Benjispears) shared the code word, which has a few variations, and explained it will alert bartenders to what's going on or, more specifically, what you want them to do.

Benji, who works as a bartender in Los Angeles, re-enacted a time when someone might use the code and specifically pointed out a woman on a date looking uncomfortable.

He goes over to make sure the pair are OK and the woman orders an 'angel shot' then adds that she wants it 'with lime'.

Benji then shouts over to a manager and tells him that they are going to do angel shots with lime, focusing on the lime a few times. Turns out that it's because the lime part is telling the member of staff to call the police.

All of the variations are:

  • An angel shot with lime - get the police
  • An angel shot neat - a bartender or member of security needs to walk you to your car
  • An angel shot on the rocks - you need a member of staff to call you an Uber or taxi

After re-enacting a scene Benji explains: "Angel shots are becoming more common and more known throughout all bars and it's being brought to bartenders' attention.

"OK so an angel shot is key, it can save you or your best friend's life and it's something we should all know about."

He goes on to add: "So there's three ways you can order the angel shot, you can do the angel shot with lime. OK so angel shot with lime when you order it, it means you need the police so immediately the bartender will notify a manager and we'll get the police involved for you.

"You can order an angel shot neat, that means you need someone to walk you to your car, a bartender or security, someone needs to walk you to your car because you don't feel safe.

"Then you can order the angel shot on the rocks. The angel shot on the rocks means you need us to call you an Uber, a Lyft or a taxi so you need us to get you home safe."

After the clip was posted, someone pointed out a crucial detail - Benji didn't leave the woman's side.

The person said: "It's important to note that Benji didn't leave her side once she said that. Purps might know what that means and this put her in danger."

Another commented saying: "An angel shot with lime actually did save my life. Thank you for posting this."
