We've all been surprised... and then disappointed. Most of us manage to hide it with a quick smile or an 'aw, thanks'. Not little Jace Lynner, who had this reaction when he saw his newly painted room for the first time:

The six-year-old from Western Minnesota had been patiently waiting for his room to be painted after his nine-year-old sister had hers done.

He went out with his parents to pick paint and decided what theme he wanted, but when it came to the actual decoration of the room his parents, Eric and Kaitlynn, completed it without him.

The pair remembered how much they loved surprises when they were children and thought that little Jace would be excited... but they couldn't have been more wrong.

As Jace walks into the room, he takes everything in before announcing: "Well, that was rude." He then goes on to say: "You painted the room without me."

Speaking to LADbible, Eric said: "We moved into this house in January of 2019 and he has been wanting to paint his room for a while. We did his sister's room last fall and he has been patiently waiting for his room to get done.

"He came along when we bought the paint, he picked it out, and he picked out the design on what we were going to do."

Then Jace went to his grandpa's for a few days while Eric and Kaitlynn redecorated.

Eric went on: "My wife and I took that opportunity to surprise him we both liked surprises when we were younger. His reaction was mainly because he thought his sister helped and Kaitlynn, myself and our daughter painted it without him.

"There was definitely a meltdown of tears, once we explained our daughter didn't help as she wasn't home he calmed down. Now he LOVES it."

"My wife and I liked surprises when we were younger, we legitimately thought the reaction would be excitement and all smiles and hugs, which is why we recorded it, because that would have just been fun.

"In the video in the door you can see that quick peek, that's my wife checking because we were in the hallway, and it was quieter than we thought, once we realised he was visibly upset we were in there, giving him a hug, his sister was in his room waiting for him which is who he is talking too in the video."

Luckily for Jace, his parents are letting him have full involvement when it comes to painting their room soon. Phew.
