In France they have beef bourguignon, in Spain they have paella, and in Britain we have beans on toast.
Whether or not you find the humble beans on toast as tasty as these other European offerings is a matter of taste, but one thing that can't be argued is that beans on toast is much simpler to prepare.
Make some toast and put hot baked beans on it. Voila, beans on toast.
And yet, some heathen has had the temerity to mess about with this delicacy.

Taking to Reddit forum CasualUK, clearly fully prepared for a roasting, said heathen wrote: "I'd say the most controversial thing about me is how I eat my 'beans on toast'."
Accompanying this caption was a photo of their bizarre deconstructed interpretation of the dish, which is essentially a plate of croutons served alongside a bowl of baked beans.
Naturally, people couldn't believe what they were seeing.
Many people were quick to point out that the meal couldn't even really be classified as beans on toast.

One person commented: "That's toast on beans mate."
Another said: "Haricot Tomates avec Croutons, more like."
A third added: "Did you just show the bread the toaster?"
While another joked: "Do you toast your bread on a radiator?"

However, others thought the dish was no laughing matter.
One person commented: "If we all club together we can have a petition signed and in front of parliament tomorrow to prevent this blatant abuse of our traditions."
Another agreed: "You're a f*****g anarchist. You should be on a watchlist."
A third added: "My wife does this, she's a wrong un as well."

And another said: "Hand your passport in at the nearest court, your citizenship has been revoked."
Before we go deporting them though, wait till you hear a few extra details about the dish that aren't immediately clear in the photo.
The Reddit user explained: "I put a piece of camembert on the bottom of the bowl! It melts bc the beans are so hot and I get chunk of melty cheesy goo with my spoon for each bite."
OK, that does actually sound pretty delicious - though with croutons and camembert that meal is probably more French than it is British.

They went on to add that they sometimes mix some scrambled eggs in with the beans too, and to be honest, I don't know what to think anymore.
