Couple Respond Brilliantly To Woman Who Said Gay People Aren't Happy

Ludicrous claims deserve ludicrous responses

A couple have responded brilliantly to a woman's ignorant claim that gay people aren't happy. Watch here:

The woman in the video is Gemma O'Doherty, an Irish far-right activist and conspiracy theorist.

In a livestream, she said: "I don't see anyone or know anyone who is gay who's happy. I just don't.

"It's a miserable lifestyle. It's a promiscuous lifestyle. It's a dark lifestyle."

Clearly, these comments are utter b******s - which Kurt von Schmittou and his other half pointed out perfectly in a video on his TikTok account.

Faux sobbing, Kurt pointed to a wedding photo and said: "We were so miserable on our wedding day we had a giant picture taken."

He then proceeded to share lots more wedding photos in which everyone was clearly 'unhappy', 'sad' and 'miserable'.

Concluding with a clip in a pool, supping a cocktail with his husband, Kurt cried: "We've been together nine years... [more pretend sobbing]."

Don't they seem so sad?

It's a pretty ridiculous response to a ridiculous claim, and it has gone down a treat, racking up more than 176,000 views.

Commenting on the video, one person said: "This was just phenomenal!"

Another said: "You guys are awesome. Keep being 'miserable'. Here's to another nine years."

A third added: "Wait, doesn't gay also mean happy? Coincidence? I think not."

The couple were far from the only people to condemn O'Doherty - who has been banned from Twitter over 'repeated violations'.

Former BBC Breakfast presenter Steph McGovern - who has a girlfriend with whom she has a young daughter - tweeted: "I can so relate to this.....

"I mean look at my unhappy life with my amazing partner, our gorgeous daughter, our cracking friends, our wonderful family and our brilliant jobs.

"Awful life Gemma. Awful."

Many other gay people pointed out the patent absurdity of O'Doherty's claims on social media.

One person wrote: "Sorry Gemma but my husband, our dogs and me have a lovely wee happy life. I suspect you just don't know any happy people, because happy people tend to stay away from miserable battle axes."

Another said: "I'm gay and I'm quite happy cheers! So is my fiancé of nearly 7 years. If you wanna meet for a coffee I will happily meet to try and open your eyes. Being gay isn't a lifestyle btw ffs."

A third added: "I have a gay son who is very happy because the people around him accept him for who he is. Maybe the gay people in your life aren't happy because they have ignorant people like you judging them. Just a thought...."

Well played everyone. Apart from Gemma O'Doherty.
