Dad Has Divided The Internet After Attacking His Step-Daughter’s Bully
When Mark Bladen found out his step-daughter was being bullied, he initially just wanted to confront the boy and, in his words, give him a 'good old fashioned talking to'. What happened next has certainly divided the internet and it's not hard to see why.
The 53-year-old from Brisbane, Australia, was filmed belting the absolute shit out of the teen at a skate park. Speaking to 60 Minutes Australia, Mark explained what sent him over the edge: "He smiled at me."
His victim suffered scratches and a bruised throat, according to the Daily Mail, and his mates had to step in and break up the fight.
The step-daughter explained that she had been tormented for weeks by the teen.
"[He] called me names like gorilla and King Kong, he would buy me shaving cream for Christmas so that I would shave," she told 60 Minutes.
But while Mark has gained many supporters who say they would do exactly the same thing, others have spoken out and called it hypocrisy.
Bicarra wrote on Facebook: "Support him 100 percent. Too many people nowadays get away with constant harassing and belittling of others; and I'm sure that boy has now wiped the smile off his face."
Danica added: "I would do the same thing. As wrong as that may sound we have a duty as parents to protect our children from anyone. He may now think again before picking on some other poor young girl. To many kids these days committing suicide due bullies!"
However, Linda said: "I disagree the 'way' he did it. He launched himself at the kid and grabbed him around the throat and the reason he did that was because HE became angry.
"He looks like a complete tool. Sure the bully needs a slap but it was done in a manner to make the dad look equally as uncontrollable and explosive as the bully."
Tracey agreed, saying: "Just watching this little bit, I think the dad is a bit of a thug if he goes around punching kids. And just cause the kid 'smirked' at you, no reason to choke the kid."
The vide of Mark attacking the kid went viral and eventually police tracked him down. The step-dad was charged and plead guilty to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.
While the step-dad avoided a criminal conviction, he had to fork out $1,500.
