If you're one of those drivers who curses anyone being in the lane that is due to merge into yours, you might want to look away. Or not, it's always nice to get a fresh perspective and below is someone explaining why everyone getting into one lane is the wrong thing to do:
Posting the video on TikTok, @jobbertok reveals why the people in the 'mass gathering of the dimwit department' should actually be utilising both of the lanes.

He concludes by saying that they're the ones creating the situation that they hate...
Speaking on the video, he explains: "There's many people in this mass gathering of the dimwit department going 'oh he's pushing in,' but if they were driving properly as they should do, there'd be two queues of traffic with equal length.
"And if there was how many cars would I be able to pass Jeff? That's right - zero. They literally create the situation that they hate... lovely jubbly, sound as a pound."
Getting into a lovely debate, one person wrote: "Hear me out, if everyone joins at the back of the queue [sic], traffic flies smoothly. The reason traffic is stop and start is because of merging."

In response, the original poster said: "They didn't add this lane as modern art, it literally cured a congestion crisis because traffic on this road used to block a major junction."
Another commented in agreement, saying: "Actually the Highway Code tells you to use both lanes and merge at the end, merge properly nobody needs to slow."
In fact the Highway Code is fairly vague on the matter, saying: "In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily.
"Merging in turn is recommended but only if safe and appropriate when vehicles are travelling at a very low speed, e.g. when approaching road works or a road traffic incident.

"It is not recommended at high speed."
Adding a follow-up video, the guy said: "Traffic used to come all the way down... and block the major junction."
He went on: "So then they put the two lanes in and now the only thing that stops it working is brain dead idiots who camp in lane one, not letting people merge correctly.

"But then again it's no secret that the general intelligence of society is going way down so it's probably to be expected."
Someone sarcastically replied: "But I queued for hours so why should more intelligent people go first?!?"
Another said: "There are quite a few studies showing speed difference being the primary cause of traffic build ups. Occupying both lanes equally and merging keeps everything flowing smoothly."
