A TikTok user filmed the moment her flatmate thought she found an 'eye' in her hot chocolate:

The video captures a hot chocolate-stained wall after the roommate had thrown her drink in the air when she saw the suspect floater.

According to the TikTok user, ailyndlikeisland, the pair had just eaten dinner and were sitting in the apartment talking about how crazy 2020 has been.

We might have guessed a story about a floating eye ball would be 2020's fault - after all, everything else is.

She said: "My roommate made hot chocolate at home in our apartment using the ingredients: coconut milk, cocoa powder, and honey. She makes this drink almost every night.

"She spit up something that looked like an eyeball and shrieked.

"She spilled some of the hot chocolate on the carpet, then took a closer look at the 'eye' and screamed and flung her hot chocolate across the room while also throwing the 'eye' (which was in her hand) onto the kitchen floor."

In a later video, she told the camera: "I had 30 followers last night, so I don't really know how to do this.

"Just to clarify, this is not a prank at all.

"I literally started filming because I was p**sed that she had thrown hot chocolate on the carpets and our walls. She's screaming and crying and telling me to just pick it up and put it outside."

The flatmate started to rinse her mouth out.

"A lot of people think it was a gummy and that it was a prank but it was not a gummy. She made the hot cocoa herself. The coconut milk had just been opened that night and isn't set to expire until 2021.

"I know we were kind of half laughing so it might have seemed like a prank but we were just having that reaction because it was such a crazy situation."

She went on to explain how they looked online to find out what plant-based milk mould looks like but couldn't find 'anything that looked like that'.

This led them to believe that it was an eye - 'not a human eye but like a fish eye or something'. She went on to point out: "Anything looking like that in the milk is crazy and freaky and worrying."

On reflection, and after refrigerating the 'eye' for a number of days, she posted another video saying: "We don't think it's an eye anymore. TikTok has enlightened us. It still doesn't make sense because that was an unopened bottle of coconut milk.

"But it is not an eyeball. We've had it in the fridge for a few days and over that amount of time it has shrivelled up into being not looking like an eye anymore. So I just wanted to clear that up."
