A woman has shared the terrifying exchange she had with the maintenance man in her building who threatened her, saying: "I'm coming in."

Bee was living in a privately owned apartment in Louisiana, US, when she received a message from the maintenance bloke asking how she was.

The 36-year-old responded to the 7.30am message asking whether he was about to tell her he needed to get into her apartment, to which he replied: "Yes just ti [sic] see ur face," adding: "I miss u."

The exchange - which has gone viral on Twitter - shows that Bee simply said: "Oh lol" to which he wrote: "Can I come in?"

Speaking to BuzzFeed, she said: "When I responded 'oh lol,' it was the same as an in real life nervous chuckle.

"I literally did not know how else to respond to that kind of message from a person I was not interested in. Even the nicest person can be harmful."

Despite her best attempt at being blunt (literally telling him 'no sir'), the maintenance guy ignored her refusal and responded: "Coz I'm here," followed by: "I'm coming in," and then: "Just opened it".

At this point, Bee tells the man: "I'll call the cops," which seemed to stop him in his tracks.

"I'm in the next [sic] apartment stop tripping," he wrote, before adding: "Got u". Funny joke, eh?

She went on to tell BuzzFeed: "I broke the lease a month later and blocked him. I felt unsafe, [so] I moved as soon as I had the resources to do so."

Explaining why she didn't complain to the landlord of the flat, she added: "The owners were a married couple that just owned and renovated a house.

"They didn't care about anything but the rent. All of the tenants had several complaints about various things. Nothing was ever handled."

In response to Bee's viral tweet, one person wrote: "I'm glad s*** like this is being exposed... scary af... when I lived in my 1st apt by myself my building manager UNLOCKED my door and let himself in one day 'to check about bugs', cops did nothing, landlord did nothing and I was harassed by him for the next year of living there."
