There are loads of creepy, quirky and funny doppelgängers all over the world that you might never be aware of.

You might never get to meet the person who lives on a different continent that looks scarily like you or what you used to look like.

Well, it seems like former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has a doppelgänger with American clothes designer John Elliott.

His company John Elliott Co recently collaborated with Nike and basketball legend Lebron James for a new range of sneakers.

When Lebron featured photos of the artist on his Instagram page, people noticed a striking similarity between him and the man who led Australia between 2013 and 2015. Elliott just looks like a younger, more hipster version of the former PM.

One person on Twitter wrote: "Lebron shared this on his Instagram and it's messing me up how much this guy is Millennial Tony Abbott."

Another added: "I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought this when I saw it."

A third said: "Could this be the long lost son he thought he had?"

Now if you think this is a stranger case of doppelgänger syndrome, check out these people who look like identical twins, but aren't family whatsoever.

Shannon Lonergan, 21, from Ireland, discovered that she looks strikingly similar to Sara Nordstroem, 17, from Sweden.

Shannon said: "It's like a stranger but you know them. You can trust them because they look like you. There was no awkwardness ever."

Shannon and Sara were keen to learn a bit more about their similarities. With that in mind, they visited Professor Tim Spector at King's College London.

Using an advanced facial mapping system, the genetics expert studied their faces and found that - despite having no relation whatsoever - the pair shared a 90 percent facial similarity.

Shannon is not alone. Niamh Geaney, also from Ireland, set out to find her doppelgangers and successfully managed to find not one, not two, but three lookalikes.

Two - Karen and Irene - in her native Ireland, and another - Louisa - in Italy.

Niamh has not one, but three doppelgangers.

Niamh told Sunday Night: "It's really cool but it's weird. You meet these people who look almost completely like you, but yet behind that you have different personality traits... even though you look the exact same.

"You think you're special and unique and there's no one in the world that's like you, and then you meet someone who looks identical to you and you realise you're not as unique as you thought you were."

Maybe Tony and John should grab a beer together.
