Person Tries To Tell Police Officer They 'Got High Together' In Massive Wrong Number Fail

You couldn't make it up

That sinking feeling when you get the wrong number is one most of us can relate to. But one unknown sender decided they weren't content with being told the number they'd text wasn't who they thought it was.

The clever little so-and-so even revealed they had broken the law - not realising they were actually texting a police officer.

You couldn't make it up.

The unwitting sender was just texting what looks like a new friend, innocently inviting them to a baseball game - they even offered them a free hot dog and soda. What an absolute gem - I'd have been there like a shot.

This is what you get for trying to be nice.

However, what they didn't realise was that they'd made a bit of an unlucky mistake with their new mate's number, and had instead text a Winfield, Missouri Police Department officer.

The officer, who's not been identified, simply replied: "I would love to go to game tonight. Sadly, I think you have the wrong number :("

The sender wasn't having any of it though, trying to jog the girl's memory by reminding them: "With Shari & Diana we got high together girl."

The cop then decided to send photographic evidence that he was not in fact the intended recipient, replying with a selfie of: "Pretty sure we didn't get high together."

He took a selfie for good measure.

He then added: "Are you still going to pick me up for the game though? I was really looking forward to going to the game."

The sender finally accepts defeat - but only after dropping themselves well and truly in it.

"Wrong number," the person finally sent.

The police replied saying they tried to warn the sender, typing: "I tried to tell you but nnnnooo I don't know what I'm talking about.

The embarrassed sender replies saying: "You can stop."

Winfield Police Department shared the texts on Facebook, and their post has so far racked up more than 5,000 reactions and 11,000 shares.

Even they saw the funny side, posting: "We were invited to go to a baseball game tonight!!!! Unfortunately we don't think they are gonna come pick us up."

Smoking cannabis is legal in a handful of US states - Missouri not being one of them. But it's still unknown where the sender was from, so whether or not they've broken the law isn't certain.

It looks like the police won't be following it up anyway.
