A petrol station owner has gone viral after he decided to take matters drastically into his own hands to stop a customer smoking while standing about on the forecourt. Check out his efforts in the video below.
To be fair to him, smoking in a petrol station is one of the stupidest things you can possibly do. Standing around surrounded by highly combustible fumes coming from a reservoir of incredibly flammable fuel, whilst people dispense that fuel from pumps?
Yeah, that's not exactly University Challenge winning form.
Anyway, the petrol station owner decided that he'd seen enough, and took swift and decisive action to douse the smoker with a fire extinguisher before he blew everyone at the station to kingdom come.
You definitely can't blame him. It needed doing.
Since the footage emerged on Reddit, the clip has been viewed thousands of times, with most people - just about everyone, in fact - praising the actions of the owner.
In the 18-second video, a man wearing a white t-shirt and black hat can be seen allegedly enjoying a smoke, seemingly oblivious to the danger he is putting everyone in.
Then, the station proprietor comes into view and picks up a fire extinguisher, before showering him in a cloud of white powder.
That'll teach him.
One person commented: "I work at the gas station and I really want to do exactly this on situation like that. I usually quote my colleague, who said this to an older lady that was smoking: 'Ma'am, there is no problem that you're smoking here, the problem is that we won't have any part of you that we can bury at your funeral.'"
Obviously, because this is the internet, there are those who have criticised the actions of the station owner - in this case because of his choice of deterrent.
One such person wrote: "Don't do this, CO2 extinguishers can cause people to suffocate. Probably won't suffocate in this case because it's a fairly open space but definitely not indoors."
Well, they still needed to stop smoking at a petrol station.
The footage was originally shared back in 2017, and seems to have come from a petrol station in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
The moral of the story is this - don't smoke at petrol stations if you value your life.
It's incredibly stupid.
In fact, maybe try not smoking at all, it's not very good for you wherever you choose to do it.
