A plus-size influencer has shared a video of an encounter she had with a complete stranger who laughed at her while filming in a gym. You can see the incident here:

Bethy Red, who has more than 500,000 followers on Instagram, posted a clip to TikTok showing the uncomfortable moment she was approached by a stranger who questioned why she was filming herself.

In the clip, Bethy can be seen fixing her hair while looking in a mirror. A woman who is stood behind her asks: "Girl, what are you doing? Are you taking videos of yourself?"

To which Bethy replies: "Yeah."

The woman then asks: "You are? Well, why? For your own documentation or what?"

When Bethy explains it's for her blog, the woman starts to laugh.

There's then an awkward silence as the woman gathers her belongings, but before she departs she sarcastically tells Bethy to 'have fun'.

Sharing the clip on TikTok, and hiding the woman's identity with a large white square, Bethy wrote: "So this happened."

The video has since been viewed more than six million times and has been flooded with comments from people calling out the 'mean' stranger.

One person said: "This is misogynistic microaggression and she knew exactly what she was doing. Her intent was to make sure she left you feeling insecure."

Another wrote: "She goes to the gym because she hates herself. You go because you love yourself. That's the only difference that matters."

A third person said: "The fact that after she treated you like this, you protect her identity, says a lot about your character. She doesn't deserve it but you're a good person."

While another said: "Sounds like the type of girl who peaked in high school."

Bethy has since shared a follow-up video urging people to stop trying to identity the woman, adding: "The point of the video was to show that you stop a bully with kindness.

"Don't lower down to their level. Know who you are! You are more than just a body and how you look."
