Pupil Fills Lip Balm Tube With Cheddar So She Can Eat Cheese In Class

In the past, to be considered a genius, you had to invent a number or discover gravity or something like that. In 2019, things are much more simple.

A nine-year-old girl in the US is the latest to earn the label, having stashed cheese in an empty lip balm tube so she can eat it in class.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic solution for all of us who have been looking for a covert means of eating a small amount of cheese - I'm just not sure it is an Einstein level breakthrough.

Valerie Schremp Hahn, from Missouri, US, shared her daughter's pioneering hack on Twitter and it soon went viral, garnering more than 68,000 likes. In case you're curious, it was a sharp cheddar from Aldi she chose to stuff it with - which is clearly a sound choice and further evidence that maybe she is a genius after all.

Explaining the rationale behind the stealthy cheese contraption, the unnamed mastermind simply said, 'cheese is amazing'.

Speaking to BuzzFeed News, the child innovator (her mum asked for her not to be named) said: "I just found that [the lip balm tube], cleaned it out with some soap, and started filling it with cheese.

"You can lick it and no one will know. At first I didn't tell them (her friends) and I was like licking the, quote, 'cheese,' and then I told them it was cheese and they just started laughing so hard.

"I'm just impressed that anybody would, like, like this out of all things. Cheese is amazing."

Yes, cheese is amazing.

As previously mentioned, the James Dyson of cheese earned more than her fair share of praise on social media after her mum shared a pic of the 'cheese stick chapsticks' (that's what the girl's calling them, by the way).

One person said: "Your daughter is living in 2079 and we are all still here in 2019."

Another said: "Some stories give you hope for he future. This is one of those stories."

A third added: "She is genius and will be the millionaire who takes care of you in your old age."

However, all these plaudits might just want to eat their words, just as this girl wants to eat cheese in class. That's because the girl has revealed she actually nicked the idea from a hacks video on YouTube.

She said: "I was just looking on YouTube because I was bored and I found this video and I decided to do it. I just took some of my dad's cheese, sliced it up, and put it in the chapstick container."

Fair play to her for owning up, but the rest of us really need to think twice before we throw around words like 'genius', 'hero' and 'hilarious', don't we?
