If there's one piece of television that will go down in the history books as timeless, it's the Peter Marsh episode of Come Dine With Me. After his nemesis Jane won the competition, Peter memorably gave her a piece of his mind.

Imagine if you could go back in time and see the whole thing again for the first time. Well, some lucky beggar has only just discovered the perfect episode, and he's even gathered all the best bits together and put them in a Twitter thread.

You'll remember that Peter gave us the now-legendary line: "What a sad little life, Jane," the one that has been 'memed' to death.

Into my veins, please.
Channel 4

Peter Marsh, a salesman from Oxfordshire, starred on Channel 4's Come Dine With Me in January 2016 - and he's certainly made a lasting impression on pop culture ever since.

As with any good story, Twitter user Jake Graham begins by setting the scene, thanking the kind soul that introduced him to it:

He goes on to give us an insight into what we're dealing with, posting videos of where it all went wrong in Peter Marsh and his nemesis Jane's relationship.

SPOILER: It went wrong from the very start.

We are introduced to Peter first, where we see a glimpse into the 'pompous' (Jane's words, not mine) personality he portrays in the episode - it was clear he was going to go head to head with someone.

And then we see a scene that might shock you, after all this time - IT WAS ACTUALLY JANE WHO STARTED THE CDWM BEEF:

The pair went on to have a pop at each other at every possible occasion, with Peter painfully having to admit that he could've eaten her fishcake starter 'three or more times'.

Things finally come to a head when - after three nights of intense, lovely, awkwardness - Jane wins, leading to Peter's infamous outburst.

You can read Jake's thread in its entirety here. Enjoy, lads.
