Student Forced To Deny She's Pregnant After People Mistake Bag For Baby Scan

Student Forced To Deny She's Pregnant After People Mistake Bag For Baby Scan

She was inundated with responses after sharing the snap

A student accidentally fooled people into thinking she was pregnant after they mistook a photo of her clutch bag for a baby scan.

I mean, be honest, you can see why people thought that:

Siobhan Mulvey, 19, took a photo for Snapchat before going out to celebrate her sister's birthday. Showing off her outfit, including her new bag, Siobhan wrote: "Let's get drunk" before sharing it online.

She also uploaded it to Twitter where people quickly got completely the wrong idea and started slating her for 'getting drunk while pregnant'.

Siobhan, from Manchester, said: "I've actually chucked the bag out because of all the drama it gave me.

"Me and my family were going out for a bottomless brunch at Dirty Martini for my sister's 30th.

"I posted it originally just before going out thinking it would just be my friends that saw it.

"I then put it on Twitter because I thought I looked pretty. I have quite a few followers and thought it would be nice.

"Then it just went completely weird.

"When people were thinking it was a baby scan it did make me giggle seeing as I put the caption 'Let's get drunk'.

"Some people genuinely thought I was announcing my pregnancy.

"Then there were some who thought I took a scan of an empty uterus.

"One person thought it was a picture of a man's downstairs but I really can't see that.

"I decided to take it down because it was just getting too weird.

"People kept asking if I thought it was wise to be drinking while holding a scan.

"Then I had some trolls accusing me of attention seeking and faking it for the fun of it.

"The bag was made from this shiny material and obviously I didn't realise or see it looking like anything else.

"I've lost count how many times I've had to explain myself especially now it's gone viral again!

"People have messaged me asking how old my baby is and whether it's a boy or girl.

"It's funnier this time round though."

The photo was taken last year and Siobhan re-shared it on social media and says she's been forced to confirm she's not pregnant all over again.

She said: "Someone suggested when I do get pregnant I should announce it like this.

"That's a pretty good idea to be honest.

"I only bought for £12 and now it's brought me all this!"
