It's every aspiring model's dream. Get spotted while you're out and about, someone takes your photograph and then bam - you're on the road to fame.

While these instant success stories are unlikely, they do happen, and if your luck is in you never know what life can deal to you.

That's exactly what's happened to a student at Plymouth State University who was snapped while out on the street with the photos quickly going viral.

19-year-old Anok Yai has now been approached by three modelling agencies and has a fantastic chance of fulfilling her dream career as a model.

According to the Boston Globe, Yai was spotted attending homecoming at Howard University by a photographer looking to grab some images for TheSUNK.

Yai was told by the photographer that he was there to photograph pictures of people in fashionable outfits and there was an off-chance the photos would go viral.

Posing for the picture, Yai did not imagine that the pictures would very quickly blow up on social media.

"My phone just started vibrating rapidly for a long, long time," said Yai, who moved from Egypt to Manchester, New Hampshire when she was a toddler.

"At first, I honestly thought someone made a meme of me or something."

Since being posted on Sunday, the photos have now been liked more than 11,000 times, attracting thousands of positive comments.

Some of Yai's new followers on Instagram have even been tagging modelling agencies urging them them to give her a shot.

While Yai had always been interested in fashion and art, she admitted that up to now, modelling had always been just a dream.

The biochemistry student can now realistically consider embarking upon a modelling career, at least part-time to start with.

"It was a dream that I always wanted, but I wasn't sure if it was going to happen," Yai told the paper.

"At first, I questioned what everyone was seeing because I didn't really see it."

"Honestly, I think that people get so used to seeing themselves that people don't see their own beauty because they see it every day."

If there's any lesson to take from Yai's story, it's to cast your doubts aside as best you can and have the confidence to put yourself out there.

You never know - there might just be an opportunity out there waiting for you to take it.
