When you look like a celebrity, it can have its perks. But if that particular celebrity or recognisable person is, let's say divisive, then the perks might not be as good as you'd hope.

That's the situation that has faced one Canadian tourist as he was enjoying a holiday on the Gold Coast.

Shawn McCormick was visiting to celebrate his son's graduation from university and had a few people ask him whether he was Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Politicians cop a lot of flak for a whole host of reasons, but Mr Morrison has been copping it hard lately after leaving for a family holiday to Hawaii while parts of the country were experiencing some horrific bushfire conditions.

In order to not attract anymore attention, Shawn's son decided to make him a t-shirt to ward everyone off.

Keiran told LADbible: "Knowing [Mr Morrison's], well, recent decline in popularity among a considerable population, my sister and I decided it was best to make him a funny T-shirt to keep him safe.

"We had him get photos with some police officers and a couple people around surfers (including myself and friends) before letting him go home with it.

"Before we gave him the shirt he actually got mistaken for ScoMo another two times in the four days we were travelling around! Figured it was a pretty good time to give him the shirt before he got a rather negative reaction."

Keiran says the comparisons between his dad and Scott Morrison were first made when he arrived to Australia last year to study.

"Everyone, including my housemates, got a great laugh out of how [the t-shirt] looks! We made him wear it out around Surfers Paradise in Gold Coast a couple times. For most of the people who saw it absolutely loved it!

It's probably a good idea to ensure that people don't think Mr Morrison has nicked off to the Gold Coast to escape the pressure from the media about his holiday - even though it would be a nice reprieve.
