Flat Earther Fails In Attempt To Launch Himself Into Space (Again)

It was the second time he's tried to launch his self-made rocket but he promises to give it another go

Remember 'Mad' Mike Hughes, the Flat Earther who attempted to launch himself into space in a homemade rocket so he could prove the Earth was flat, only for it not to happen?

Well, guess what? It's not happened again. I know, who would have seen that coming?

Sixty-one-year old Mike hit headlines in November last year. He announced to the world he was planning to fly a self-made rocket ship, which he had spent several years building, into the sky so he could look down and prove that the Earth is flat once and for all.

Sadly, Mike, from California, didn't secure the proper permission for attempting such an expedition.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: "We were contacted by the bureau of land management and they informed me that they are not going to allow me to do the event there, at least at that location."

But that wasn't the only stumbling block our pal Mike hit, because just as he was about to set off for Amboy - where the launch was planned - his 'motorhome-slash rocket-launcher' broke down. I bet Elon Musk doesn't have to put up with this shit.

So, in January this year, Mike rescheduled his take-off for 3 February. However, it turns out that wasn't his day either.

During his pre-planned live-stream, Mike sat inside for 11 minutes before accepting that his launch-pad was goosed, getting out and calling the whole thing off. Sad times but probably best for his own safety.

As he exited his home-made launcher, he said: "So the only thing I know to do, I hate to disappoint everybody, it's the last thing I want to do is climb out the thing, I'm ready. I did the best I could do."

You sure did, Mike.

The self-taught rocket scientist blamed a 'faulty seal' or 'actuator' as the reason why he failed to get off the ground.

Thankfully, we probably don't have too long to wait for Mike, although it won't be Tuesday because he's busy then. According to his video, he's in court as he's 'suing the governor'. 'Mad' Mike Hughes: the gift that keeps on giving.
