Amongst the cloudburst of mixed opinions for both Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton in the run-up to the presidential election there has also been a lot of entertainment.

However, it's not entirely been laughs, gags and the frequent use of 'what the fuck is going on?'.

Take the example of Helen McDonnell, who has started a crowd-funder to pay for treatment for her husband, who is battling a terminal lung disease.

As if wanting to help her struggling husband, Peter, wasn't enough, Helen says that if the goal of £30,000 is reached, she'll change her name to either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, depending on who wins on 8 November.

"After Peter began getting breathless in the summer of 2013, he was diagnosed with IPF - Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis with honeycombing of the lungs, a terminal lung disease for which there is no known cause and, worse still, no cure," Helen said in a post on Just Giving.

"We were told he could expect to survive three to five years. The only way to help him live longer is by receiving a double lung transplant.

"As his condition's deteriorated, I became not only his carer, but also the sole earner. I've had to take leave from my job, exhausted all of our life savings and I'm scared beyond belief that money will be an obstacle to his last chance of life."

Fifty-eight-year-old Peter and Helen have been married for 34 years and neither are ready for it to end anytime soon. Which is why, when their nephew came up with the idea of putting her name at stake, she jumped at the chance, calling it a #NameChanger.

Although having to live the rest of her life as 'Donald Trump' would be a genuine nightmare, it does outline her love for her husband and how she'll do just about anything for his well-being.

Helen is currently £2,500 (eight percent) into the £30,000 goal.
