Woman Dresses As Bush To Secretly Capture The Moment Sister's Boyfriend Proposes

I'm sure we can all agree that a marriage proposal is a pretty big deal and a very special event - so much so that many people arrange to have a photographer set up ready and waiting to capture the moment.

However, one woman has completely gone above and beyond to make sure she didn't miss out on capturing her sister's proposal.

Therese Merkel, 23, from the US state of Wisconsin, knew she wanted to be there to photograph her sister Rachel's boyfriend Andrew Philibeck getting down on one knee, but she also wanted to make sure she wouldn't be caught.

The solution? A camouflage ghillie suit so she could blend in flawlessly as a bush, at Picnic Point in Madison.

Therese shared the brilliant photos of her plan - which worked, by the way - on Twitter where people have praised her for ingenuity and devotion to her older sister.

Andrew and Therese had been discussing plans for his top-secret proposal the week before, when she had jokingly said she could disguise herself as a bush to get the perfect shot.

Like many ideas said in jest, it turned out to be a blinder.

After Andrew jumped on the idea, they set about getting a ghillie suit and arming Therese with a camera.

Speaking to Popsugar, Therese said: "While I was hiding, I had the perfect view of the whole thing. Andrew knew I was hiding and wasn't even sure I was there when he walked down - that's how baller this suit was."

During the romantic proposal, Andrew read out a poem - but to add to the tension, at this point the ring became stuck in his pocket. Thankfully, he managed to retrieve it and was finally able to ask Rachel to marry him.

She said 'yes'.

And was it all worth it? Did Therese get the perfect shot? Yes. Yes, she did:

Therese added: "I revealed my organic-looking self by screaming, 'She said yes!'

"Rachel was very confused and I was legit crying tears of joy because of how special the whole event was."

Very strange day for Rachel, I'm sure you'll agree.

Sharing photos of the suit - and proposal - online, Therese wrote: "Sister got engaged this weekend and I dressed as a bush in the wilderness to watch/capture the moment. We are one year apart... why are our lives so different rofl."
