Woman Helps Motorist Parallel Park - Then Drives Off In Car Behind
| Last updated
A woman helped a struggling motorist to parallel park - before driving off in the car to the rear. Watch the bizarre footage here:
In the viral video - which has been viewed 8.5 million times on TikTok and 9.1 million times on Twitter - a driver can be seen struggling with a parallel park job, toing and froing repeatedly, after initially diving in nose first.
Alarm bells really start to ring when the driver gets out of her car and appears to pace out the space between the two other vehicles - something that no driving instructor ever teaches.
This pacing method predictably didn't help, but thankfully for the driver, a woman appears and offers assistance, guiding her into the space.
Having finally pulled off the seemingly impossible park job, the motorist gets out of her car and gives the kindly stranger a hug - but then comes the plot twist.
After helping the motorist to successfully execute the parallel park, the woman then climbs into the car to the rear - aka the car which made it tricky for the motorist to park in the first place - and drives off.
In the video, you can't quite make out facial expressions, but you sense the driver who had finally managed to parallel park is aghast.
The kindly stranger she just hugged has transformed from an angel into the devil in a heartbeat.
It's not clear why the woman decided to do this, but the general consensus seems to be - give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a driver to parallel park and they parallel park for a lifetime.
So I suppose whether you think the woman's actions were cruel or kind is a matter of perspective.
Either way it was a brutal lesson.
Commenting on the video, one person wrote: "Blondie said shawty gon have to learn how to do this someday and it's no better time than the present."
Another said: "The first laugh I got was the lady picking up her dog so it wouldn't get run over by this woman's poor parallel parking skills."
And offering an explanation of the odd pacing out the space procedure, another commented: "She's measuring 'will this thing really even fit in there'."
I hate to be cynical (I don't really), but there's a good chance the whole thing was just a stunt, given the blocked out licence plates and conveniently located cameraman.
Oh, and the fact this doesn't really look like the sort of busy area where someone so bad at parallel parking would have no other choice.
Real or not, it's certainly tickled a lot of people. After all, it's much more enjoyable to watch someone struggle with a parallel park than to be watched as you struggle to parallel park.
