Is there anything more beautiful than the process of childbirth? Stay with me on this one.

But also, is there also anything more toe-curlingly weird? Let us give you a PG example of this woman who has her baby externally turned around.

Mum-to-be, Vanessa Fisher, needed some extra help to make sure her baby was ready to be born. Initially her baby was in the breech position.

Breech means that the baby is facing bottom-down and it is rare that babies remain in this position as most turn around naturally so their head is first to travel through the birth canal.

Finding herself in this situation, Vanessa Fisher had tried to reposition her baby but without success and had to have an external cephalic version (ECV) - the manual procedure you can see being performed on the video.

Vanessa Fisher opted to have an ECV as her baby was in the breech position.

Vanessa took to Facebook, posting: "Dr. Cummings performs a successful External Cephalic Version [ECV] to turn our breech baby at 38 weeks.

"Prior to the procedure, we attempted a number of other methods to turn the baby naturally. Ultimately, our goal is to avoid a cesarean section by any means possible."

After moving her bump around and quite a lot of squeezing the doctor moves away before proudly announcing: "The head is down".

Vanessa shared the video to make others 'aware that there are options available' and explained to Scary Mommy: "My husband and I gladly shared a glimpse into our journey through this pregnancy not to imply that what we chose was right or wrong, but that it was elective. And the icing on the cake - it was successful."

Vanessa opted to have a manual ECV which was successful.

She added: "I believe that women should trust their bodies and the process. I think that the more that we educate ourselves and trust our instincts, the better equipped we are to make good personalised decisions for ourselves."

According to Little Things, the expectant mother wanted a C-section to be the last resort. And a last resort it was because she didn't need to have one.

Vanessa and her husband, Nick, confirmed the birth of their baby boy - Ashton Nathaniel Fisher - who was born 'healthy and handsome' on 16 January 2018.
