Picture this - you're sitting on a blackberry tree, casually picking some berries, as you do. Next thing you know, you're in hospital and you have a massive tree branch going straight through your body.
That's what happened to 12-year-old Bishnu Mahakud from India after he fell from a tree in the eastern state of Odisha.
The four-foot long branch pierced through his chest and came out of his neck. The young boy was rushed to the nearest hospital, but doctors were wondering how to remove the piece of tree. To be fair, where the hell do you start?
So Bishnu was transported 120 miles away to the Srirama Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for surgery.
A CT scan revealed exactly where the branch had penetrated and whether it had severed any major arteries. Thankfully, no severe damage had been done.
Dr Manoj, who operated on Bishnu, said: "The patient was brought to the hospital in a critical condition. The tree branch has pierced through the left of his chest and came out of the neck.
"The boy underwent a three-hour long surgery during which the tree branch was successfully removed from his body."
He was placed in intensive care for three days and his condition has shifted from critical to good, with Dr Manoj adding: "We will keep him in the hospital for few more days to avoid any chances of infection."
Ivan Krasouski had been out flying his paratrike (basically a type of microlight) over some countryside not far from Minsk when a strap snapped and he span out of control.
The 36-year-old crashed into woodland and a sharp branch impaled his shoulder as he made his landing.
Rescuers arrived, telling Krasouski that he would bleed to death if they removed the piece of wood. So, instead, they cut him free from the wreckage and carted him off to hospital with the branch still in place.
Initially, the pierced pilot didn't even realise what had happened.
"I'm thinking, 'I fell so softly, all is okay,'" he said in hospital. "'I'll stand up and go...' then... something holds me back.
"I looked and it was a giant log there. I tore my shirt and there was a branch in my arm, thick as a watermelon.
Incredibly, Krasouski didn't even seem too fazed by the massive tree sticking out of his upper body and even managed to crack a shit joke.
"Many people came. I told them - 'Take out this splinter,' and they say 'No, are you crazy? If we take it away, you'll bleed to death.
"I was like, 'I am Groot!' and I went to the ambulance with this log embedded in me."
He is now at home making his recovery.
