If you're looking for a relatively bizarre new fashion trend that is being enjoyed by celebrities at the minute, have you considered bleaching your eyebrows blonde so that it looks like they are not there?

Admittedly, you probably haven't, but all sorts of celebrities are apparently getting on board with it.

People like Kim Kardashian, Maisie Williams, Katy Perry, and Lizzo have all recently been spotted rocking this particular style, and it's pretty strange to look it, to be quite honest.

Exactly why this has become a trend isn't clear, but there's enough of them at it to make it one.

So, if you're looking to stand out from then crowd when you're hitting those angles for the 'gram, you could potentially do worse than to give it a go.

Or - you know - you could just not.

Whatever, really.

If you want to dig a little bit deeper and find out why they've been doing it, there are worse people to ask than Alexx Mayo, who is something of a stylist to the stars.

She told Page Six that she recently performed the procedure - which admittedly makes it sound like an invasive surgery - on Lizzo.

Mayo said: "We constantly have this 'parking lot' of ideas and this was something I have been wanting to do for a while.

"A few days before, I found this image of a '90s supermodel ... I showed it to her and she loved it, so I told her, 'I think it's time.'"

According to Mayo, the whole process only took about 20 minutes, and cost less than $10 in products, because you only need some bleach and a developer.

Mayo continued: "Her first reaction was, 'WOW! I have no brows'."

Well, yeah. Wasn't that the whole point of the exercise?

She went on to say that Lizzo 'immediately felt very editorial' - whatever exactly she means by that.

The make-up artist added: "In beauty, I think we are getting to a point of self-expression and blurring the lines of the standards of beauty.

"It's a bold statement."

It certainly is.
