We Asked A Male Escort What It's Really Like As A Job

They get asked some pretty strange requests

"I'm a confident, straight guy who takes pride in his appearance, but also in how he treats other people. I love to have a good time, but still hold strong values on being respectful and well-mannered. Chivalry is certainly not dead!" Sounds like a typical dating profile, doesn't it? Except this profile is actually for 31-year-old Archer, a male escort.

The world of the male escort may be an unfamiliar one to you and me, but if you've ever wondered what it's like to be one, Archer thinks it's, well, great.

Scrolling through male escort agency websites, there's page after page of profiles of eligible men of all ages, shapes and sizes, from all corners. There's certainly no 'one size fits all' when it comes to escorts.

Accompanying semi-naked photos are short descriptions of each guy with a list of contact details, to follow up your request personally. They're surprisingly easy to contact and even more surprisingly easy to find - and it can all be arranged online.

Many escorts use it as a side job to bring in some extra cash, but the income varies. "It all depends on what sort of jobs you're taking on," Archer tells LADbible.

"I only do this on the side while having a normal career, so it usually varies between £1,000-£2,000 per month.

"There are occasions when it's a lot more, however. Some male escorts are earning upwards of £60,000 per year.

"An example of that kind of money is late last year. I was flown to New York by a successful businesswoman, just to partner her at a corporate event for one night, which was £3,000 with all expenses covered."

Others have made a living from escorting and take their services very seriously. Like escort Madison, based in London, who according to his profile offers 'above and beyond the services of your usual male escort'.

He charges from £200 an hour, up to £2,500 for a 48-hour session. He spends time getting to know his clients first to check they have the right chemistry, before moving on to exploring each other 'mentally and sexually'.

Except it's not always about the sex, escorts are also hired for companionship, as Archer explains: "The majority of women are after some company or someone to listen. It's often easier to speak to someone anonymous than it is to share details with people close to us, for fear of judgement.

"It's ultimately about being able to build a connection with someone and providing a different experience."

From dinner dates to family occasions and sightseeing to making your ex jealous - there's an escort for every occasion, apparently.

It's interesting to know what the men get from it (besides the obvious). Because, in the current climate of sexual harassment revelations, we could be quick to imagine an escort's chauvinistic behaviour.

But, one of the most noticeable things about the profiles is their dedication to satisfying their client's needs and desires, in whatever way they wish.

One escort's profile lists his possible services, 'theatre and opera, shopping, city guide, spa days', and suddenly it doesn't seem so sordid and more like a fun day out.

Of course, things can get sexual and there's certainly the stranger side to the profession.

Twenty-nine-year-old escort Bastian, who got into the profession after a friend suggested it, says he often gets asked to play out some strange fantasies. Requests have included foot worshipping, being asked to have sex with a woman whilst her husband watched, and one escort even being asked to cover himself in permanent marker.

Archer's typical client age ranges from 21-40 and most of these women are professionals - some of whom he still speaks to.

"I have stayed in contact with a few clients, as long as I feel it's not encroaching any social boundaries," he says.

Holding down a relationship aside from their escorting duties is difficult, as Bastian admits how things can get tricky.

Bastian says: "The idea of sharing your partner with anybody else is a total nightmare.

"Some of these women feel powerful and like they own you whilst you're on their watch, and I'm sure this wouldn't wash well with the missus."

However, £100-an-hour Archer, says his profession hasn't affected how he treats women. He says: "I'd like to think I was brought up to have a healthy respect for women.

"If anything, it has opened my eyes to some of the poor behaviour the experience in the 'dating game', to the point where I've considered offering dating advice based on what I've learned."
