Man Tries To Make Homemade Limoncello But Accidentally Makes It Way Too Strong

Man Tries To Make Homemade Limoncello But Accidentally Makes It Way Too Strong

In the end, his DIY limoncello blew his socks off

A man who was bored in lockdown got quite a shock when he tried his homemade alcohol for the first time, only to discover he'd used enough lemon and alcohol to practically blow his ears off. If you've not seen the video yet, I suggest you give it a look.

You can almost see the steam coming out of Justin Barriball's ears as he takes a swig of his DIY limoncello.

Now, we've all been dealing with the coronavirus lockdown in different ways. Some people have taken the opportunity to do absolutely nothing whatsoever, some people have turned their back gardens into the Love Island villa.

While a lot of the lockdown projects that people have attempted have rightly received a fair bit of praise, little has been published about those that maybe didn't quite go to plan.

This is one such instance.

Justin told LADbible: "That was the first occasion I've ever tried to do anything like that as I was bored on lockdown and probably the last time I do something like that.

"It went wrong purely I think because of the mix and the fact I had not a clue what I was doing."

Here's the calm before the storm.

Yes, as soon as the homemade booze touches the back of his throat, it's back up again, just like that. Let that be a lesson to any have-a-go distillers out there, it's not as easy as you might think.

So, was it too much lemon, too much booze, or both?

Justin continued: "If I knew how to make it properly I'd probably be able to tell you that, but I'm not overly sure. It was a very strong lemon taste and it was a very strong alcohol taste.

"I don't think it was too much lemon, but probably at a guess I'd say I needed to add a lot more sugar syrup to it, because when I did it was fine, but the first one was minging.

"I added a load of sugar to it afterwards and then it was OK, but that first one was absolutely grim."

Yeah, it looks pretty grim.

At least he got to have a drink that wasn't utterly disgusting in the end, then. All's well that ends well.

He explained: "I made sugar and syrup - sugar and water - but maybe I didn't leave it for long enough because I'll be honest, I only left it a week.

"I might give it one more bash."

Ah, the plot thickens. Perhaps a little more restraint and leaving it more than a week would yield a more positive result next time.

Or would it? Because surely the video itself is better than any quantity of DIY limoncello that he could have made?

My throat is burning just looking at it.

Luckily, although the drink was awful, Justin is a good sport about it.

He added: "Well, I think it seems to have captured the mood of everybody, where they're actually just looking for something fun.

"So I think people are enjoying it for that 'burst out laughing' attitude. I'm glad, but I didn't do it for that. I was basically just making TikToks [@Justlikecoffee2020] for the boredom, so I just thought I'd film it."

Well, there are plenty of folks who are glad that he did. We could all use a giggle at the minute.
