Man Quits His Job With A 'Sorry For Your Loss' Card

Luckily, his boss got the joke...

A man has resigned from his job by presenting his boss with a 'Sorry For Your Loss' card.

Well, that's one way to go about it. Takes some balls, too.

The guy in question handed in his notice inside the hilarious card, usually given to someone who has suffered a bereavement, and inside it wrote: "My last day of work is the 29th July."

The inside of the card was printed with the message: "Thinking of you at this difficult time."

The front of the cards reads: "So very sorry for your loss"

This amazing feat of job-quittery was perpetrated by Sam Baines, a 22-year-old (now former) call centre employee from Sheffield.

Once she saw it, his colleague Hannah shared the photo, which has now been retweeted 40,000 times and liked by a gigantic 210,000 people.

Sam told Insider: "I've been working here for almost a year now and had to hand my notice in as I'm going back to university this September.

"We are a really close team and have a fantastic manager so we're always joking around and having fun. I knew I had to do something a little more creative when giving my notice to try and get one more joke in before I left!

"I knew my boss would find it funny so I wasn't worried about how they'd take it. I came up with the idea because I was always joking about how much they'd miss me when I was gone, then thought a condolences card would be the perfect way to finish it off.

"It went down great and helped make a positive from an otherwise sad situation."

Well, that's nice isn't it? It's great that he managed to get on with his boss.

Obviously, the boss in question saw the funny side of things, despite the fact that they were about to lose an employee.

Hannah said: "Everyone was laughing and pretty amused with the card. It was done in good spirit and not as a petty reaction as some people think."

Naturally, with that kind of engagement, people on social media have been having their say on Sam's bold move.

One person said: "I love their work, I honestly have no choice but to stan"

Another added: "Card closes with: Love," and I am officially deceased"

Fair play to you, Sam. Perhaps we'll see more and more people doing stuff like this to quit their jobs.

Let's just hope that their bosses see the funny side too.
