Man Spotted On Greater Manchester Bus Wearing Snake As Face Mask

Man Spotted On Greater Manchester Bus Wearing Snake As Face Mask

The other passengers must have been hiss-terical

A man has been spotted travelling on a bus in Greater Manchester using a large snake as a face covering.

Yes, it's a pretty liberal interpretation of the rules regarding the wearing of face masks on public transport, and it seems as if it could be a fairly dangerous option too.

However, that's exactly what this bloke is doing.

It's worth pointing out that the anonymous man may well have an exemption, so he might not have to wear a traditional mask like everyone else should be doing.

The man boarded the bus from Swinton in Salford to Manchester City Centre and attracted the attentions of the other passengers, who - quite obviously - had never seen a man with a snake wrapped around his face before.

Hey, it's par for the course around our way, but whatever.

At one stage, he removed it from his face and let the snake curl itself around the hand rails of the bus.

Well, it wasn't doing him any good as a face mask, was it?

You don't need to be a viral epidemiologist, or even have a GSCE in Science to realise that wearing a snake around your face isn't going to stop you catching coronavirus.

In fact, it's more than likely a quicker way to get yourself into trouble. One eyewitness described the incident tothe Manchester Evening News as 'definitely entertaining'.

That's one way of putting it.

The 46-year-old Swinton resident, who did not wish to give their name, said: "He had it wrapped around his face like a mask getting on the bus.

"At first I thought he had a really funky mask on, then he let it crawl around the hand rails.

"No one was really bothered on the bus but a man behind took a video. It was definitely entertaining."

The picture was later shared to the Facebook group 'Swinton People' where other surprised Salford-dwellers have been sharing their thoughts on this bizarre decision.

One person said: "No way would I be on that bus with that."

Another wrote: "I'd have run off screaming the place down, either that or passed out cold."

However, there are some more interesting theories in play.

Another commenter rightly pointed out: "He shouldn't have too many problems getting people to social distance anyway."

Perhaps that is the man's plan?

Then, another person - who is obviously a snake fan himself - said: "Bus driver might be a snake guy too and know that's a snake that's calm and placid and wouldn't go for anyone that walked past or anything.

"Even if somebody went and sat on that seat right next to them it still wouldn't go for ya [sic]."

Still, wear a mask folks, even if you then plan to cover that mask with a snake.
