Parents Shocked As 'Mini Wolverine' Baby Born Covered In Hair

'We cannot believe how much hair he has'

Two proud parents in the US have compared their newborn baby to a 'mini Wolverine' after he was born covered in hair.

Nancy Rivera gave birth to her son Jonathan during the early hours of 28 January at United Hospital in Saint Paul, Minnesota, but both she and her fiancรฉ Anthony Lopez were taken aback when they realised their child not only had a thick head of jet black hair, but also hairy arms, legs and shoulders.

Jonathan - who was born still inside the amniotic sac weighing in at a healthy 6lbs 13oz - has been compared to a 'mini Wolverine' by no less than his old man.

The 28-year-old lab technician said: "We cannot believe how much hair he has.

"When he first came out it had almost formed a beard on his face and some people have joked he will be shaving before he starts walking.

"All of the nurses were joking he was going to keep warm during the winter. All of our family have found it really entertaining.

"Jonathan is like a mini Wolverine."

Anthony's daughter Natalia was also born with a lot of head hair, though not the same body hair as Jonathan.

None of the ultrasounds during the pregnancy revealed just how hairy the pair's first boy would be, though nurses have advised that the 'mini Wolverine' moniker probably won't be applicable for long, as Jonathan is likely to lose the hair naturally during bathing.

Anthony said: "The ultrasounds weren't the new 4D machines, so everything looked just normal.

"We could tell he was going to be a boy but that was all.

"Mostly everyone that visits just says 'wow he's got lots of hair' and jokes about him being born a grown-up man."

My advice Jonathan is to enjoy it while it lasts - one day you might just find you've still got the hairy arms, legs and shoulders, but none of that thick head of hair.

One baby that you wouldn't expect to ever have to worry about having a full enough head of hair is Holly Gent. She was born in 2018 with a ridiculously thick mane and her mum Natasha said strangers frequently comment on the little one's unusual baby bouffant.

Some head of hair that.

She said: "It's nice as a mum to hear that, although sometimes I don't know what to say because there's only so many ways you can say thank you.

"It hasn't stopped growing since the day she was born.

"Sometimes she has a blow-dry if her hair needs to dry quickly. She really enjoys it but sometimes she does try to eat the air.

"Her hair afterwards is so funny. It has grown straight upwards so after it's dried it looks like a little afro. It makes us laugh so much."
