Preacher Wants $52m Because God Wants Him To Get A Fourth Private Jet

Plenty of religions encourage their followers to donate to their local church so that they can not only continue to run services but also so that anything left over can be funnelled back into the community.

Well, at least that's how it's supposed to work.

Let me introduce you to Jesse Duplantis an Evangelical Charismatic Christian minister based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

He's been in the biz for four decades, spreading the word of the Lord and making sure people get that message of love, support and prosperity.

But the 68-year-old is not only a fan of God, but also of travelling in private jets.

Don't get me wrong, I think we'd all love to be able to rock up at an airport and step onto a G4 or Learjet, but we also don't have a spare few million bucks lying around the flat to buy one.

Fortunately for Jesse, he does seem to have found some cash lying around his church as he has not one, not two, but three (yes three) private planes. But while that small fleet is nice, Mr Duplantis wants to get another one so that he can spread the good word even better.

In an address to his followers on This Week With Jesse he said the Lord told him that he should get a Falcon 7X.

How much do you reckon one of those bad boys will set you back? Just a casual $52 million (£39m).

Jesse said: "Some people believe that preachers shouldn't have jets. I really believe that preachers ought to be able to go on every available voice, every available outlet to get this gospel preached to the world.

"We're believing God for a brand new Falcon 7X, so we can go anywhere in the world in one stop. Now people say, 'My lord, can't you go with this one?' Yes, but I can't go in one stop."

Oh Jesse, my heart bleeds for you.

The televangelist has defended his use of private jets in the past with fellow preacher Kenneth Copeland, claiming that commercial planes are full of demons. They also said that if they flew with us plebs, they'd be constantly bothered with prayer requests.

Jesse adds that if Jesus were alive today, he certainly wouldn't be riding around on a donkey and would definitely have his own jet. Okay Jesse, whatever you say.
