Shoppers Horrified After Spotting Bags Of 'Wet Eggs' Sold In Morrisons

It's an egg-centric lunch choice, that's for sure

Shoppers have been left shocked and horrified after spotting a bag of 'wet eggs' on sale in the Morrisons meal deal aisle.

Yep, who doesn't want a bag of like 20 eggs with their Diet Coke and Monster Munch?

The alarm was raised by a Twitter user called @TrumpetSexy, who was browsing the store for something to have for lunch when they spotted the blue bag full of eggs and liquid.

Interestingly, the packaging claims there are five boiled eggs in each bag, but it doesn't take a genius to spot that there's significantly more than that.

It's more like 20 or 30 eggs. That's probably too many.

Twitter

The concerned observer wrote: "My local Morrisons is selling actual sacks of wet eggs. This is the most wretched and cursed item I have ever witnessed."

They continued: "Also it's in the meal deal section, which implies this is considered lunch? Does this count as a main, or a snack?? I have so many questions, and no answers."

The tweet has since gone viral, with more than 100,000 likes and comments flooding in from around the world, as shoppers and foodies alike try to make sense of this shocking revelation.

To be fair, if giant bags of eggs are your sort of thing, this is actually quite the bargain. It's just £1 for the whole lot.

If you needed a job lot of eggs, and presumably live alone, then this might be the ideal treat for you.

So, why on earth is Morrisons advertising such a product?

Twitter

It seems like someone maybe just forgot to portion the eggs out, and a shelf stacker made the mistake of just chucking them out there.

However, The Metro did a bit of digging and came back with a response.

It's no accident, basically.

A spokesperson for the supermarket chain said: "These boiled eggs are prepared for our salad bar. Sometimes, rather than wasting them, we offer them to customers directly."

Well, that's better than just chucking them away, I suppose. Still, it's hard to see the need that anyone could have for a bag of wet eggs.

I mean, wet eggs? Yuck.

Unless you're a protein fiend with a huge taste for eggs, there's no way you could get through all of those before they turn bad.

Perhaps just stick to a disappointing wrap, a bottle of sparkling water, and a bag of Flame Grilled Steak McCoys.
