We've all heard stories of people going to Thailand and coming back with a terrible tattoo, but most of the folk who end up in that predicament only really have themselves (and the drink) to blame.

For Kanyarat Chaichan, a 26-year-old Thai woman, the excuse of being a pissed up teenage backpacker didn't really fly.

She went into a tattoo studio for a routine eyebrow job - more of a permanent make-up situation than a full-on tattoo - and ended up with an inexperienced tattoo artist.

You can see where this is going. He botched the job, and left Kanyarat with 1cm thick eyebrows.

Ms Chaichan was left bereft, with eyebrows painted on and unable to pay for the laser removal treatment that would be required to write the wrong.

Luckily for her, a kind-hearted beauty therapist heard of her plight and decided to do the removal - which costs more than a thousand pounds - for free.

Vilailak Nan Sundantom, of Surat Thani in Thailand, carried out the procedure and now Kanyarat is back to looking her best. ''I'm very pleased with the results and grateful for the treatment," she said.

"I feel much better now, and I think I look a lot more beautiful. I thought I would be stuck with the big eyebrows for the rest of my life. Now I'm just being patient and waiting for them to get better.''

Vilailak, the beauty therapist, added: ''There are many places to study to learn how to do tattoo eyebrows. It's not something that people should play around with.

"I could really sympathise with Kanyarat because nobody wants to have eyebrows like that for the rest of their lives. 'It was a mistake and this was a very extreme case.

"I will do my best to help but it will take between three and six months to see the results.''

The treatment that Vililailak performed on Kanyarat involved laser removal to get rid of the initial terrible tatt and then microblading, to return the eyebrows to something approximating normal.

The procedure is not instant and Kanyarat will have to wait for several months to see if it was successful and her eyebrow tattoos have successfully faded away.
