A woman who was being followed by a stranger pretended to be friends with a Twitch streamer to get away from him. Watch here:

The streamer, who goes by the name jakenbakelive, was streaming in the street when he was joined by a stranger - and he quickly realised she'd joined him because she was fleeing a man she didn't know who had been following her.

Jake subsequently kept the woman close and talked to her as the ominous man continued to lurk in the background.

Eventually the man left the scene and the woman broke down in tears of relief.

The incident took place several years ago, but the clip has recently resurfaced on Reddit, with people praising the woman's quick-thinking, as well as Jake's response.

Reflecting on the moment, Jake said he was glad he 'was in the right place at the right time'.

Jake was praised for stepping up and helping her.

On Reddit, one person commented: "That girl is very smart and alert, good thing that YouTuber act fast also to save the girl from that man."

Another said: "The very end where the one gal says 'He's leaving now'. The victim looks like she's about to burst into tears.

"I would be so afraid, and SO relieved that this group of people immediately took me in, in a moment of need. What wonderful people."

A third added: "I've had to do this a few times at festivals. Usually people can pick up on the cues and play along pretty well."

An incident very similar to this took place in Tokyo.

Aussie streamer Rob Dee (robcdee) was in the middle of a live stream outside a kebab shop when he noticed a woman and a man approaching.

Assuming the two were a couple, he initially thought nothing of it, but grew worried when he noticed the woman looking over at him with a 'distressed' expression on her face.

Addressing the male stranger who wouldn't leave her alone, she then said she was here with her 'friend', and began walking over towards Rob - who quickly played along.

Rob explained: "I was streaming outside the kebab shop in Tokyo, explaining my equipment.

"I noticed a girl (and a guy I thought to be her partner) walking past. She looked at me somewhat distressed, then I heard her say, 'Sorry, I'm here with my friend'. I didn't know her at all so, I thought it was strange, but I decided to play along since she looked troubled.

"I realised she was looking for an escape from this guy, so I introduced myself to him and tried to end the conversation quickly without drama.

"After he left, she mentioned to me that she felt in danger as she is a tourist here in Japan, so she was grateful for my help."
