Amazon Prime's new psychological thriller, Cruel Summer, was released on 6th August and having gobbled up every tense moment of the first season in one sitting (oops), we're all desperate to know when a second instalment is to be expected.
The new drama series, which has been likened to Pretty Little Liars, follows the stories of Kate, the popular girl with a charmed life who one day goes missing, and Jeanette, the nerdy wannabe who is accused of being connected to Kate's disappearance.
The events of the series take place over three summers in the 1990s and the story is told in alternating points of view to keep the mystery running and viewers in suspense.

When Kate (Disney's Olivia Holt) goes missing, Jeanette (Back Roads' Chiara Aurelia) goes from being an awkward introvert to the queen bee, but then quickly becomes the most hated person in America when she's linked to the disappearance.
Viewers have been on the edge of their seats as the plot takes several unexpected twists and turns and the truth continues to evade us.
The season 1 finale ends on a massive cliffhanger, so it's a good job that season 2 has been confirmed.
Cruel Summer season 2 release date
All we know so far is that a second season has been confirmed. We don't know when exactly, only that it comes out in 2022.
