"It's really good," said Dolly.

Dolly Parton has become Lil Nas X's latest fan after he performed a cover of her signature song 'Jolene' on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge earlier this month.

The country singer said on her social media: "I was so excited when someone told me that Lil Nas X had done my song #Jolene. I had to find it and listen to it immediately... and it's really good."

Lil Nas X performed Dolly's song alongside some of his own tracks on Live Lounge in September. You can watch it in the video player below.

The BBC R1 Live Lounge appearance came just days after Lil Nas X, who's already worth millions, released his debut album Montero. The announcement of the release caused great controversy with a fake pregnancy photoshoot. But clearly, that hasn't put Dolly off.

Having heard the rendition of her 1973 hit, Dolly shared the video of Lil Nas's performance on Twitter and posted a photo she took with the rapper in 2019 on her Instagram with the same caption.

"Of course, I love him anyway," she continued. "I was surprised and I'm honoured and flattered. I hope he does good for both of us. Thank you @LilNasX."

So, does this mean we could see a collaboration between the two artists in future?

It wouldn't be the first time Lil Nas has teamed up with a country singer. 'Old Town Road' with Billy Ray Cyrus was a huge hit for the artist and Dolly, too, is open to unusual collabs. In 2020, she featured in Galantis's hit dance track 'Faith.'

And it seems a collab between Dolly and Lil Nas is something fans are getting behind.

"Name a better duo, I'll wait," one commented on Dolly's Instagram post. The comment got more than 1,500 likes.

"Pls be a collaboration," said another, which received the support of more than 680 others.

" If y'all did a duet of 'Jolene', it would be phenomenal!!" another suggested.

Over on Lil Nas's post of the cover on Instagram, one fan commented: "Whoa tweaking hard," which got more than 1,400 likes. You may remember Lil Nas made 'nah he tweakin' trend a month ago.

Lil Nas X's debut album Montero was released on 17th September 2021. Meanwhile, Dolly, at 75-years-old, is still releasing tunes. Her latest was 'Sent From Above' in July 2021, which has the same name as her new fragrance.

I for one would love to see a collaboration between the two artists.
