Timothee Chalamet's Dune comes out in cinemas this autumn. And if you're a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan, this one's for you.

Based on the bestselling books by Frank Herbert of the same name, Dune is a sci-fi epic movie which tells the story of Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet), "a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people," says Warner Bros of their latest venture.

"As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet's exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence-a commodity capable of unlocking humanity's greatest potential-only those who can conquer their fear will survive."

How to watch Dune 2021 in the UK

Dune comes to cinemas on Thursday 21st October and Friday 22nd October 2021 in the US.

Will Dune be released on HBO Max?

Yes. It's been confirmed that Dune will be released on HBO Max on the same day as in cinemas in the US. Subscriptions to the premium ad-free version of the service start from $14.99 a month.

It'll be available for people who have the standard HBO to stream a month after being released in cinemas.

Unfortunately, HBO Max is currently only available for US viewers. However, there is a chance that UK viewers can access HBO Max to watch Dune with a VPN.

Will Dune be released on Netflix?

Dune isn't likely to be coming to Netflix for a while yet due to licensing rights and the fact that it's not a Netflix original movie.

According to Netflix Life, "newly released non-Netflix original films typically take some time to come to the streaming platform in the first place, and with such a huge release like this one, it could take an even longer time for the sci-fi movie to be available on Netflix."

Therefore, if you're in the UK, the only way of seeing the movie is to go and watch it in cinemas on 21st October.

Who's in Dune?

Warner Bros and its partners have put together an elite cast for this movie, many of which come from sci-fi fantasy backgrounds.

Among them, Zendaya, who's recently appeared on the big screen in the latest Spider Man movie and will play Paul's love interest, Chani, in Dune (we hope Tom Holland doesn't mind).

Paul's parents are played by Mission Impossible's Rebecca Ferguson and Star Wars' Oscar Isaac, while Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War) and Jason Momoa (Aquaman), play the two warriors Gurney Halleck and Duncan Idaho, who train Paul in combat.

Javier Bardem (Skyfall) will play Stilgar, the leader of the Fremen, and Stellan Skarsgård (Avengers: Age of Ultron) plays Baron Vladimir, the leader of House Harkonnen from Arrakis.

Assassin's Creed's Charlotte Rampling plays the reverend mother of an order of women called the Bene Gesserit, who can read and control minds.

Other cast members of note are:

  • Dave Bautista (the Guardians of the Galaxy movies)
  • Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Sex Education)
  • Stephen McKinley Henderson (Fences)
  • Chang Chen (Mr. Long)
  • David Dastmalchian (Blade Runner 2049).

So once again, that's 21st October 2021 you need to pencil in your calendar for what's sure to be an epic film
