A Harry Potter reunion is happening in 2022 and to say that we're buzzing is an understatement. Here's everything UK viewers need to know about watching Harry, Ron and Hermione getting back together.
Return To Hogwarts will mark the 20th anniversary of the beloved film franchise and see Harry, Ron and Hermione reunite with other key cast members, now all grown-up and probably with kids the same age they were when they first appeared in the films.
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, then just aged 12, were shot to fame overnight with the release of Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone in November 2001. Many of us would watch these three growing up over the next decade as they starred in another seven Harry Potter movies.
Now, in their early thirties, the stars of the franchise will sit down to share their memories from Hogwarts and reveal some behind-the-scenes secrets with fans.
"There's magic in the air here with this incredible cast, as they all return home to the original sets of Hogwarts, where they began 20 years ago. The excitement is palpable as they prepare to take their fans on a very special and personal journey, through the making of these incredible films," said executive producer Casey Patterson.
When is the Harry Potter reunion being released?
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will premiere in the US "at the strike of midnight" on New Year's Day in 2022 on HBO Max. That's great if you're viewing in the US, or have a VPN, but what if you don't fall into either of those categories?
How to watch the Harry Potter reunion in the uK
HBO Max hasn't yet confirmed how UK viewers will be able to cast their eyes on the reunion. But surely, with all of the actors and the author of the books being British, they're not going to see UK viewers missing out.
We predict that, like with Friends: The Reunion, UK viewers will be able to watch the Harry Potter reunion either on Sky Atlantic, Sky Hub or NOW TV on the same day as the US.
We'll let you know as soon as something is confirmed.
Who will be in the Harry Potter reunion?
Joining Radcliffe, Grunt and Watson are some of HP's most beloved and iconic characters, including Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane), Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fienne), and Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton).
Not to mention, many members of the Weasley family will be back, including the twins (James and Oliver Phelps), Mr Weasley (Mark Williams) and Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright).
Other key cast members confirmed for the reunion are:
- Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange)
- Gary Oldman (Sirius Black)
- Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge)
- Jason Isaacs (Lucious Malfoy)
- Alfred Enoch (Dean Thoma)
- Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom)
- Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood)
- Ian Hart (Professor Quirrell)
HBO Max and Warner Bros. are expected to announce more cast members closer to the reunion. But the woman who started it all, J.K. Rowling, will not be at the reunion, reports have said.
So once again, the first date on your new calendar should be the Harry Potter reunion, which lands on 1st January 2022.
